Watsons Bay, Sydney

A harborside home, two easy levels

Our Australian sister company Lift Shop installed a 2-level home elevator in Watsons Bay, at the tip of Sydney's South Head. Frosted glass swing doors open on a cabin finished entirely in Skinplate.

The home looks across the water to the Sydney skyline, with wide openings to terraces and a harbor that fills every room with light. Living is set over two levels at the edge of the harbor. A home elevator keeps those views within easy reach for everyone, from grandparents to young children.

The elevator

Skinplate all around

All three cabin walls are Italian Skinplate, a fine textured steel. The vertical control panel is Skinplate too, with a white ceiling and LED lighting above.

An aluminum handrail runs along the cabin. Frosted glass swing doors let light into the hallway while keeping the cabin private.

Built to last

The elevator was installed in 2015 and has served the house ever since. The builder constructed the hoistway to our drawings, and regular servicing keeps it running smoothly.

A generous 47.2 in square cabin leaves room for a wheelchair or a stroller.

Why it works

Soft light

Frosted glass doors brighten the hallway and keep the cabin private.

Room to move
